WIRE AND SILICONE BOTANICAL STRUCTURE

Showroom Installation: now showing at Stahl + Band, Venice, CA

Shown alongside the Pleated Paper Objects for a show at Stahl + Band, the botanical installation by Kept LA demonstrates the shared material logic of both practices: the same platinum-cure silicone process, applied to botanical material rather than paper.

In ancient Greece, hellebore was the flower that cleared the mind, a remedy for illusion and a way back to clarity.

Here, pressed hellebore grows through clusters of hand-woven wire, loose and open boundaries the flowers move past like wildflowers. Sealed in silicone, they hold the look of a garden just after rain, turning their faces toward you from some angles and slipping from view at others. They tremble with the air in the room. Flowers shaped by hand from beeswax grow among them.

This is a semi-permanent work that is made to age gently in place.

Commissioned works can be built in the same language, with materials made to last.

Materials: Hand-woven wire, pressed Hellebore, silicone, beeswax
